Room enough for a Christmas tree and warmly lit against the cold grey outside ... Time for some hot mulled cider! And who wouldn't love to have this classic '41 Chevy as a tow vehicle? Works for me! |

This painting was done in pastel on sanded paper, not my usual casein on illustration board. I was asked to do a demo for a local art group and chose this 1968 Airstream Caravel as the main subject for my next Christmas painting. I borrowed from Carolyn B., who is a fellow Sister on the Fly, and decided Glacier National Park would be the perfect setting. |

"Sisters' Christmas Camp"
Sisters #30, #250 and #802 of the famous “Sisters on the Fly” are encamped at Christmastime and huddled together, against a flurry of snowflakes. Typical of these gals, they don’t let a little thing like snow deter them! And their cute, vintage, painted trailers stand out against the grey backdrop of a primitive campground.
As for the trailers: A 1958 Winnebago, a 1966 Scotty Tonga and a 1970 Fleetwing have been personalized to reflect the individual owner’s interests. And regarding the SOTF: Many are cowgirls and some even fly fish, but there is no mandate other than “making girls out of women,” as Sister #1 so aptly puts it.

"LUCILLE" is a painted vintage Roadrunner trailer, owned by Sister #88 of the Sisters on the Fly.
The cute Mrs. Santa pin-up has been loosely borrowed from an original painting by the famous illustrator Gil Elvgren.
